The Union Public Service Commission has released the notification regarding the recruitment of Central Armed Police Forces, UPSC CAPF 2023.
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) issued a notification on its official website yesterday regarding the examination for recruitment of the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF). Interested candidates can submit their online applications for UPSC CAPF 2023 till May 16. UPSC has scheduled the examination for recruitments of CAPFs on August 6th, 2023.

UPSC CAPF 2023 Vacancies
This year, the UPSC CAPF 2023 examination will be conducted to recruit for a total vacancy of 322 posts.

Eligibility Criteria
Citizenship: The candidate must be a citizen of India OR Subject of Nepal or Bhutan
Education Qualification: The candidate shall have a Bachelor’s Degree.
Age Limit:
- The candidate should be aged 20 and must not be aged more than 25 years as of August 1, 2023.
Age Relaxation:
- Upto a maximum of five years if a candidate belongs to a Scheduled Caste or a Scheduled Tribe.
- Upto a maximum of three years in the case of candidates belonging to Other Backward Classes who are eligible to avail of reservation applicable to such candidates.
- Upto a maximum of five years for Civilian Central Government Servants in accordance with the existing instructions of the Central Government. Ex-Servicemen will also be eligible for this relaxation.
- However, the total relaxation claimed on account of Government Service will be limited to five years.
Physical Standards: Candidates must meet the prescribed Physical and Medical Standards for admission to Central Armed Police Forces (Assistant Commandants), Examination, 2023 specified in the notification.
Selection Process of UPSC CAPF 2023
The selection process for UPSC CAPF 2023 is divided into three stages. The first stage is that of the written examination. The second stage is that of the physical & medical examination of qualified candidates. The third and final stage is the Personal Interview.
Examination pattern
The examination consists of two papers, that is Paper 1 (General Ability and Intelligence) and Paper 2 (General Studies, Comprehension & Essay). Paper 1 is an objective type examination carrying 250 marks and Paper 2 will consist of descriptive type questions carrying 200 marks
Syllabus for UPSC CAPF 2023
Paper I: General Ability and Intelligence (250 Marks)
- General Mental Ability
- General Science
- Current Events of National and International Importance
- Indian Polity and Economy
- History of India
- Indian and World Geography
Paper II: General Studies, Essay and Comprehension (200 Marks)
- Part-A: Essay questions which are to be answered in long narrative form either in Hindi or English totaling 80 Marks. The indicative topics are modern Indian history, especially the freedom struggle, geography, polity and economy, knowledge of security and human rights issues, and analytical ability.
- Part-B:
- Comprehension, précis writing, other communications/ language skills
- To be attempted in English only (120 Marks)
- The topics are Comprehension passages, précis writing, developing counterarguments, simple grammar, and other aspects of language testing
UPSC CAPF 2023: How to apply?
- If not already registered with UPSC, Visit the official website of UPSC.
- Click on the option reading “One-Time Registration (OTR) for examinations of UPSC and online application “. Click here for more information on One-Time Registration.
- After Registration Log in to your UPSC Account and verify the required details.
- Then go to Dashboard and click on “Active Notification”.
- Fill out the application form and make payment.
- Lastly, keep a copy of the Acknowledgment receipt for future proceedings.
Application Fee
For male candidates, the examination fee is ₹200. Whereas, female candidates and candidates from SC and ST categories are exempted from paying the fees.
