There were issues with conducting the Computer Based Test (CBT) format as it had to be divided into shifts. Even a few students complained of various technical glitches in their respective centres. Due to these reasons, the authorities suggested for restarting the offline format of the examination.
- 3 categories of mark distribution: There will be three categories of mark distribution based on the scores of the applying candidates. These are:
- UGC NET JRF: Candidates securing marks equal to or above the JRF cut-off are eligible for the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF). They can pursue research in their chosen subject and are entitled to a stipend.
- UGC NET (Lectureship): Aspiring lecturers need to meet the NET cut-off criteria. Successful candidates can apply for lectureship positions in universities and colleges across India.
- Admission to PhD Category: In this category, the NET cut-off criteria will be lesser than the above two criteria. This score will be used for securing admission in PhD to the various Higher Educational Institutions.
