Gauhati University has released the official notification for Gauhati University MBA Admission 2026 for the academic session 2026-27. The two-year Master of Business Administration programme is offered through the Department of Business Administration and affiliated colleges. Online applications are invited from eligible candidates through the prescribed Samarth portal. Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification: A Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline from Gauhati University or any other recognized University, with at least 50% marks in aggregate or in the Honours/ Major subject where applicable.

Relaxation: A relaxation of 5% in the minimum qualifying marks shall be provided to candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) categories and to differently-abled candidates with 40% or more disability, as per prevailing norms.

Appearing Candidates: Candidates appearing in the final semester of their Bachelor’s Degree programme, and having no arrears/ backlogs in earlier semesters, may also apply. However, if selected, they must fulfil all eligibility requirements of the Gauhati University MBA Admission 2026 and submit proof of meeting the prescribed criteria prior to the commencement of the first semester MBA examinations.

Selection Process

• There are 3 stages of the selection procedure of Gauhati University MBA Admission 2026, as follows:
  • Written Test conducted by Gauhati University for screening of candidates
  • Group Discussion
  • Personal Interview
• The Written Test shall be conducted by Gauhati University for screening of candidates for Group Discussion and Personal Interview rounds.
• Applicants acquiring a valid MAT/ CAT/ XAT/ CMAT or other national level MBA Entrance Test score of 75 percentile or more have the option of opting out of the written test conducted by Gauhati University and can directly appear for the Group Discussion and Personal Interview rounds.
• For candidates having a valid MAT/ CAT/ XAT/ CMAT or any other national level MBA Entrance Test score of 75 percentile or more and also appearing in the written test conducted by Gauhati University, the higher score between the two shall be considered.
• The final selection is based on performance in Written Test or national level test score, Group Discussion, and Personal Interview.

Steps to Apply

• Visit the admission portal of Gauhati University MBA Admission 2026
• Click on the New Registration tab
• Read the Important Instruction section before registering
• Fill the student registration form with correct details including Full Name, Date of Birth, Mobile Number, and Email ID
• Login using the credentials created and fill up the application form
• Upload the necessary documents
• Pay the prescribed fee online and submit the application
• Print and keep payment e-receipt and filled-up online application form for future reference

Application Procedure for Quota based Admissions

• Applicants seeking admission under the following categories must submit the prescribed “Other Quota Form,” which can be downloaded from the admission portal:
  • Differently Abled
  • Son/ Daughter of permanent in-service Employees of Gauhati University
  • Son/ Daughter of Ex-Employees of Gauhati University
  • Son/ Daughter of Ex-Defence Personnel
  • Fringe Village (Applicable only for residents of the village located in the Fringe of Gauhati
    University i.e. Garigaon/ Sadilapur/ Katia Dalang/ Sundarbari)
  • NCC/ NSS
  • Extra-curricular & Co-curricular Activities
• Along with the dully-filled Other Quota Form, applicants must submit supporting documents
  and a printed copy of the common online application form submitted to the portal of Gauhati University MBA Admission 2026.
• The above mentioned two forms (Application Form and Other Quota form) along with the self-attached supporting documents must be submitted either in person or by post to Room No. 14, Office of the Secretary, University Classes, Gauhati University, Gopinath Bardoloi Nagar, Guwahati,
  Assam,781014, on or before April 20, 2026 during office hours on all working days only.
