Severe Weather Disrupts Academic Calendar Across Assam
Guwahati is once again reeling under the impact of heavy rainfall and urban flooding, leading to significant disruptions in the academic schedule. Cotton University and Gauhati University (GU) have both announced the postponement of all examinations scheduled for May 31, 2025, citing safety concerns for students and staff.
Cotton University postponed its PhD entrance exams, originally scheduled for the same day. In an official statement, the university mentioned that new dates will be announced soon. Similarly, Gauhati University suspended all exams slated for May 31 due to the worsening flood situation.
Schools and Colleges Closed in Kamrup and Kamrup (Metro)
In response to the emergency, Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma announced via ‘X’ account that all state government employees in Kamrup and Kamrup (Metro) districts will receive a Special Casual Leave (SCL) on May 31. Additionally, schools and colleges will remain closed, and private establishments have been advised to operate with caution.
