NTSE 2022 is scrapped or temporarily deferred? Know complete details of recent steps by NCERT

NTSE 2022 is stalled by the Union Ministry of Education. This scholarship scheme directly benefits many students all over the country.

NTSE 2022: On a recent notice released by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), National Talent Search Examination (NTSE 2022) has been put on hold by the Education Ministry. The National Talent Search Examination is a centrally funded scheme and was approved till 31 March 2021 and further implementation is awaiting. The main question regarding its stalling is creating confusion among many people as this was one of the important scholarship schemes for various student communities.

NTSE 2021 was conducted on the 24th of October, 2021 and the results of the second stage were given on the 18th of February, 2022. The award letter for the same was released on the 28th of April, 2022. By putting such a beneficial scheme on hold, there must be second thoughts revolving in the minds of authorities and the government to mitigate with newer policy.

Latest update on NTSE 2022

“The National Talent Search Scheme is a central sector scheme fully funded by the Ministry of Education (MOE) Government of India (Gol). NCERT is an implementing agency for the NTS scheme. The Scheme was approved till 31 March 2021. The further implementation of the scheme in its present form has not been approved and has been stalled till further orders. This is for the information of all concerned,” Indrani S. Bhaduri, Professor, and Head of NCERT’s Educational Survey Division said through an official notification regarding NTSE 2022.

NTSE 2022 can’t be scrapped on a permanent basis!

As various media houses have been informed by trusted sources that the government is trying to revamp the NTSE scheme before renewing its approval. The govt. seems to bring more visibility for this scheme in rural areas. And that’s why the procedures are taking a little time. They further said the news of the scrapping of NTSE 2022 which has been spreading, is not a piece of true information.

“The ministry is reviewing the scheme with an aim to revamp it,” said Dinesh Prasad Saklani, the Director of NCERT. The NTSE 2022 will be on a new way with more increase in the number of students who receive the beneficiaries of this scholarship.

NTSE 2022: All about the exam

NTSE is a national-level examination conducted by the NCERT, which aims to grant scholarships to meritorious students for students studying in the 10th Standard. The examination is conducted in two stages namely:

NTSE is held once every year. And the scholarship is awarded to the candidate purely on the basis of their performance in the examination. Both Stage 1 and Stage 2 exam consists of 100 questions. In stage 1, for every answer, there is 1 mark and there is no negative mark. However, in the second stage, for every correct answer, the candidate will be awarded 1 mark and for every incorrect answer, one-third of the mark will be deducted.

NTSE scholarship is available at each stage of the education level.
