INSPIRE Scholarship 2023: The Department of Science and Technology (DST) is committed to supporting and strengthening young people’s access to higher education in India. It has set up a system to provide Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE) – Scholarship for Higher Education (SHE) 2023 or simply INSPIRE Scholarship 2023, for nearly 10,000 students studying in various colleges and universities.

The INSPIRE Scholarship 2023 has been helping various students for a long time. The basic objective of this Scholarship scheme is to communicate to the youth of the country about the excitement of the creative pursuit of science, attract talent to the study of science at an early age and thus build the required critical human resource pool for strengthening and expanding the Science & Technology system and R&D base.

Benefits of INSPIRE Scholarship 2023

The INSPIRE Scholarship aims to support up to 10,000 meritorious students based on the fulfilment of certain eligibility criteria for their undergraduate college education, empowering them to continue their studies without financial burden. The benefits are given below:

• The scholarship amount of Rs. 5,000 per month (Rs. 60,000 per annum)
• Extra Mentorship grant of Rs. 20,000 per annum
• These benefits will be given for a maximum period of five years, starting from the 1st year of B.Sc., B.S., Int. M.Sc./ Int. M.S. or until the completion of the course, whichever is earlier.

Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria for INSPIRE Scholarship 2023 are given below-

• The meritorious students with aggregate marks within the top 1% of their Class XII examination of any State/ Central Board (same academic year i.e. 2022-2023) in India are eligible to apply.
• In addition, the student must be pursuing courses in Natural and Basic Sciences at the B.Sc., B.S., and Integrated M.Sc./ M.S. level. The subjects include:

• Those students who have secured ranks in the JEE of IIT and NEET (within the top 10,000 ranks) and are presently pursuing Natural and Basic Science courses in India at the B.Sc., B.S., Int. M.Sc/ MS can also apply.
• Those students who have cleared the National Talent Search Examination (NTSE), Jagadish Bose National Science Talent Search (JBNSTS) and International Olympiad medalists pursuing Bachelor/ Master level courses in Natural and Basic Science courses are also eligible.

Documents Required

The students applying for the INSPIRE Scholarship 2023 must provide the following documents during their application filling process:

• Class X Marksheet
• Class XII Marksheet
• Endorsement Form (Scroll below and download)
• Certificate specifying Rank or Award in IIT-JEE/ NEET/ JBNSTS/ NTSE/ International Olympic Medalists (If applicable)
• Community/ Caste Certificate (if applicable)
• Front page of Bank passbook

Note: The students must get a signed copy of the Endorsement form from the Principal of the College/ Vice-chancellor of the University in which they are enrolled.

How to apply?

First of all, visit the Application Portal of INSPIRE Scholarship 2023 and click on the new Register option (Scroll below for the link). Then students need to provide their Email and Password and get themselves registered. Once the candidate has registered, they must follow these steps:

• Use your email and password to log in to the application portal
• Next, the applicants need to upload the documents mentioned above (The most important step)
• Enter the details of the current course and current institute you are enrolled in
• Provide your address details
• After completing all the steps, click the SUBMIT button
• Please note your Application Reference No. /IVR No. for future reference and correspondence

Selection Procedure

The selection of the students for the INSPIRE Scholarship 2023 will be done on the basis of the final marks secured in the class XII examination. The cut-off marks for various states are given in Annexure II of the official advertisement (Scroll Below).
