Gauhati University Jobs 2025: The Gauhati University has released an Advertisement No. T/2025/2 inviting applications for various teaching posts under the Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP) at the Department of Education, Gauhati University.
All posts are contractual and will be filled as per NCTE regulations F. No. NCTE-Reg. 1011/80/2018 (Regulation)-HQ dated 22nd October 2021. The last date for submission of applications is 3rd November 2025.

Eligibility Criteria
Head of the Department
- Postgraduate degree in Science/ Mathematics/ Social Sciences/ Commerce/ Languages.
- M.Ed. degree.
- Ph.D. in Education.
- Ten years of teaching experience in a teacher education institution (Professor) or eight years (Associate Professor).
- Any other relevant qualification prescribed by the UGC.
- Desirable: Diploma or Degree in Educational Administration or Leadership.
Assistant Professor
Liberal Discipline and Pedagogy – History/ Geography/ Political Science/ Economics/ English/ Hindi/ MIL/ Communicative Skills in English/ Communicative Skills in MIL or Classical Language
- Postgraduate degree in the concerned subject with minimum 55% marks or equivalent grade.
- B.Ed. degree with minimum 55% marks or equivalent grade.
- NET/ SLET/ Ph.D. in Education or in the concerned subject as per UGC norms.
- Desirable: M.Ed. or M.Ed. with specialization, Ph.D. in Education.
Assistant Professor
Liberal Discipline and Pedagogy – Mathematics/ Physics/ Chemistry/ Zoology/ Botany)
- Postgraduate degree in the concerned subject with minimum 55% marks or equivalent grade.
- B.Ed. degree with minimum 55% marks or equivalent grade.
- NET/ SLET/ Ph.D. in Education or in the concerned subject as per UGC norms.
- Desirable: M.Ed. or M.Ed. with specialization, Ph.D. in Education.
Assistant Professor in Educational Studies
- Postgraduate degree in Education (M.Ed.) with minimum 55% marks or equivalent grade.
- NET/ SLET/ Ph.D. in Education or equivalent qualification prescribed by UGC.
- Desirable: Master’s degree in Psychology/ Philosophy/ Sociology or allied subjects.
Assistant Professor in Health and Physical Education (Part-Time)
- Master of Physical Education (M.P.Ed.) with minimum 55% marks or equivalent grade.
Assistant Professor in Arts Education (Part-Time)
- Postgraduate degree in Performing Arts or Visual Arts with minimum 55% marks or equivalent grade.
Career Guidance and Counselling (Part-Time)
- Degree/ Diploma in Career Guidance and Counselling.
Selection Process
- Shortlisting of candidates will be based on eligibility criteria.
- Only shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview.
- Final selection will be based on performance in the interview and fulfillment of eligibility conditions.
