LIC Golden Jubilee Scholarship 2026: Check Eligibility, Amount and Apply Online

The application portal for the LIC Golden Jubilee Scholarship 2026 is now open for students completing class X and class XII.

The Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) has invited online applications under the LIC Golden Jubilee Scholarship 2026 for meritorious students belonging to Economically Weaker Sections. The scheme is administered by the LIC Golden Jubilee Foundation through the 112 Divisional Offices of LIC across the country.

The objective of the LIC Golden Jubilee Scholarship 2026 is to award scholarships to meritorious students from Economically Weaker Sections so that they get better opportunities for higher education and employment. The scheme covers students studying in Government or Private colleges and universities in India, as well as technical and vocational courses in Industrial Training Institutes and Centres affiliated with the National Council for Vocational Training.

Scholarship Categories

The LIC Golden Jubilee Scholarship 2026 is awarded under two categories, based on the level of study the candidate is pursuing.

Eligibility Criteria

General Scholarship (After Class XII/Diploma)

Candidates applying for the General Scholarship under LIC Golden Jubilee Scholarship 2026 must fulfil the following conditions.

  • Must have passed Class XII exam (or its equivalent) with at least 60% marks or equivalent CGPA in the Academic Year 2023-24/ 2024-25/ 2025-26.
  • Must have taken admission in the academic year 2026-27 into the first year of a degree course in Medicine (MBBS, BAMS, BHMS, BDS), Engineering (BE, BTECH, BArch), Graduation in any discipline, Integrated Courses, Diploma in any field, Vocational Courses through Government recognised Colleges/ Institutes, or courses in Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs).
  • Parents/ guardian must have an annual income (from all sources) not exceeding Rs. 4,50,000/- per annum.

Special Scholarship (After Class X)

Candidates applying for the Special Scholarship under LIC Golden Jubilee Scholarship 2026 must fulfil the following conditions.

  • Must have passed Class X exam (or its equivalent) with at least 60% marks or equivalent CGPA in the Academic Year 2023-24/ 2024-25/ 2025-26.
  • Must have taken admission in the academic year 2026-27 into the first year of Intermediate/10+2 pattern, Vocational or Diploma Courses through Government recognised colleges/ institutions, or courses in Industrial Training Institutes (ITI).
  • Parents/ guardian must have an annual income (from all sources) not exceeding Rs. 4,50,000/- per annum.

Other Eligibility Conditions

  • This scholarship is not meant for post-graduation studies, except Integrated courses that combine Graduation and Post Graduation, which remain eligible for the entire duration of the course.
  • Candidates pursuing courses through Correspondence, Part-Time (Evening or Night Classes), or Open Universities are not eligible.
  • Self-study courses such as Chartered Accountant (CA), Company Secretary (CS), and Cost Accountant (ICMAI) are not eligible.
  • Candidates already receiving a scholarship from any other Trust/ Institution will not be considered, though this does not apply to candidates receiving a Government (State or Central) scholarship.
  • Candidates who gain lateral entry into the 2nd Year of Engineering Degree courses, or take regular admission into the 1st Year of Engineering after completing a Diploma, remain eligible provided they passed the Diploma with 60% or equivalent CGPA in the specified academic years.
  • As a rule, the scholarship is awarded to only one student in a family, though this may be relaxed to allow two candidates if the later applicant is female or both applicants are female.

Selection Process

  • Shortlisting and final selection of candidates under LIC Golden Jubilee Scholarship 2026 is done purely on merit, based on the percentage of marks obtained in Class XII/X, as applicable.
  • In case of a tie in the percentage of marks, preference is given to students whose parents have a lower income.
  • If there is a tie in both marks and income, the selection is determined based on a financial assessment report prepared by LIC officials evaluating the candidate’s financial needs and family background.
  • Candidates who are not already receiving any other scholarship are given preference over those already receiving one, in case of a tie in marks.

Number of Scholarships

Each of the 112 Divisional Offices of LIC will select a total of 120 students under LIC Golden Jubilee Scholarship 2026, as per the break-up given below.

Note: Gender slots are interchangeable in the event of an intra-category shortage. Overall, this works out to a maximum of 8,960 General Scholarships and 4,480 Special Scholarships across all Divisions, with vacant slots pooled centrally for Divisions having a waiting list.

Note:

  • The scholarship amount is payable every year in two equal instalments, subject to the candidate meeting the eligibility conditions for renewal.
  • The LIC Golden Jubilee Scholarship 2026 is provided for the entire duration of the course, excluding any internship or stipendiary period.
  • These rates apply to new entrants only, while students already receiving the scholarship from earlier years will continue at the rate fixed at the time of their selection.

Documents Required

  • Income certificate issued by a competent Revenue Authority (Tehsildar, District Magistrate, Deputy Commissioner, Collector, Revenue Circle Officer, Sub Divisional Magistrate, or other authorised officer), stating the annual gross income of both parents from all sources, including agricultural income.
  • Bank account details along with the IFSC code of the account to which the scholarship amount is to be transferred.
  • Copy of a cancelled cheque bearing the name of the beneficiary.
  • Result of the 1st Semester exam, or an attendance certificate issued by the College/ Institute (along with a declaration if the institute does not follow the semester pattern), for claiming the 2nd instalment.
  • PAN and e-Aadhaar Card details, along with authorisation to use the submitted data.

  • Keep the registered email address and mobile number active, as the concerned Divisional Office of LIC will send further communication, including the selection result, through email.
