SSC JE Vacancy 2026: Apply Now For 1748 Junior Engineer Posts

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released the notification for SSC JE Vacancy 2026, inviting online applications for the Junior Engineer Examination, 2026. The recruitment covers Junior Engineer posts across several Government of India organisations and also includes the post of Scientific Assistant in the India Meteorological Department (IMD). A total of 1,748 tentative vacancies have been announced, with the final post-wise and category-wise vacancy break-up to be published separately on the Commission’s website.
The posts under this recruitment fall under Group B, Level-6 of the Pay Matrix of the 7th Central Pay Commission. Eligible candidates can apply online from 2nd September 2026, and the Computer-Based Examination will be conducted in two stages, with Paper-I tentatively scheduled for October/ November 2026 and Paper-II in December 2026.

Eligibility Criteria
Age Limit
- Candidates applying for SSC JE Vacancy 2026 with an upper age limit of 30 years must have been born not earlier than 2nd August 1996 and not later than 1st August 2008.
- Candidates applying for posts with an upper age limit of 32 years, applicable to CPWD and the Directorate General of Lighthouses & Lightships, must have been born not earlier than 2nd August 1994 and not later than 1st August 2008.
- Candidates from SC/ ST, OBC, PwBD, Ex-Servicemen and other eligible categories are entitled to age relaxation as per government norms. The complete category-wise relaxation break-up is available in the official notification linked in the Important Links section below.

Selection Process
Selection for the SSC JE Vacancy 2026 will be made through a computer-based examination conducted in two papers, followed by Document Verification.
- Paper-I is qualifying in nature; candidates will be shortlisted for Paper-II based on their normalised marks in Paper-I.
- Only normalised scores of Paper-II will be used to determine the final merit.
- Separate merit lists are prepared for JE (Civil), JE (Electrical & Mechanical), Scientific Assistant (IMD) and JE (Telecom).
- Provisionally selected candidates will be called for Document Verification by the concerned Department after declaration of the final result.

- Both papers consist of objective-type, multiple-choice questions set in Hindi and English.
- Candidates will get 2 hours for each paper.
- Candidates eligible for a scribe will get an extra 40 minutes.
- There will be negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer in Paper-I and 1 mark for each wrong answer in Paper-II.

- Log in and fill out the Online Application Form with personal, educational and post-preference details.

- Pay the application fee through the available online payment modes, if applicable.
- Preview the filled form, cross-check all details and submit the Online Application Form for SSC JE Vacancy 2026.
